Wouldn’t it be better to ask questions here? People on Youtube may or may not be associated with VEX, and so the comments section could get cluttery. Here, everyone does VEX as well as this forum is moderated well, so I think questions regarding the design would be better asked here

While a great use for old field pieces, I don’t believe that’s legal. <R5> part b. says that using additional components out of their typical purpose is illegal, it then uses competition support material as an example. If you need a use for the starstruck cubes my team took ours home as pillows, they can be quite comfortable.

I would argue that I am using it as decoration since it does n’t give me any advantage in the game it qualifies for a decoration.

But it’s clearly to keep cones out, making it a functional part, and non-decorational. This is shown by how it moves with your mobile goal lifter.

But if, for example, it stopped a dropped cone from getting caught in your robot (which is why other teams use this) then it is functional

@louisvillecentrons It would be just as easy to use the black matting.

But my robot is not designed to win by dropping cone on the cloth, therefore it’s not functional.

It does indirectly help you win, it keeps you from violating SG9 when a cone gets stuck in your lift and you try to pick up another one. Functional = has a purpose, not just helps you win

Cloth aside, I think that’s a pretty nice variation of what we have seen so far. Nice job.

Yes, it is a nice robot, definitely hope to see it at a competition

I guess I will need to order some anti-slip mat.

Keep in mind that the anti-slip mat can only be used in pieces the size Vex sells or smaller.

However you can attach several pieces together using zipties or string

How many motors are on the lift? And what gear ratio?
