If I have the ability to expand 6 inches horizontally from multiple sides but never expand them at the same time would that be allowed or can the expansion only come from one side pre determined during inspection?

I would assume not. Per SG2 B:
From the Robot’s perspective, they may only expand in one “X/Y” direction (i.e., from a single
“side” of the Robot). This “side” must be identified and measured during Robot inspection. See
the figures below.
As it states that the side must be identified and measured during inspection, I would assume the intent is one side, period.
