During a Vex Highstakes Competition game, is there a time to select which program slot you want to run before the game starts?
typically teams place robots on field, connect to field controller, and permissible activities to select any autonomous routines on V5 Robot Brain - feedback during this period may be sent to V5 Joystick controller, but may not use controller.
Once Head Referee checks with teams at scheduled time of match, you should be ready to go. Once a robot is place on field, you can not ask for more time to configure robot or pump, at this time your hands need to be out of field and safety glasses on. If robot is not ready, it can be removed from field.
Individuals may be ask to leave the Alliance station by Head Referee.

If you arrive to the match in good time (i.e., not being late or 10 seconds before its due to start) you will have more than enough time to select a program slot. The new field control system using a V5 brain (not that new anymore) will flag that you haven’t selected a program yet, so the head referee is aware.
You can select a certain program, but the head ref will not let you change the program in between autonomous and driver control.
