Very nice bots. I have 1 question.
What informs the decision to use flex wheels at the bottom of the conveyor?
I am seeing a lot of teams do this, while I don’t see the advantage. My plan was to use a conveyor with standoffs to get a great hold on the tubes. We will try multiple different conveyor styles, I just want to hear your experiences with the conveyors you tested.
Though I haven’t actually tested it I would think it’s for a better ability to intake the rings. Especially when an intake is sticking outside of the robot. Otherwise you could maybe contest rings better?
When you directly use a conveyer, it is sometimes difficult to pick up the ring (dorb??). The flex-wheel system makes it easier to do so.
Flex wheels give an extra level of grip on the rings, which in turn leads to a faster and easier intake
My guess is that the flexwheels(as they can conform to objects they come in contact with) basically lead to a more effective intake by increasing grip and the contact area on the dorbs(rings).
Hope this helped😄
Looking at MARC Concept 2, does it really have a tier 3 climb as suggested by the reveal video?
The concept 2 bot is just that: A concept. It would need a lot of revisions to make competition ready, but the concept is there.
I personally was on the first bot’s team, but to the best of my knowledge: No, it could not tier 3 climb, HOWEVER in theory it should’ve been able to, they just weren’t able to nail it within the 24 hours of build time.
How do you make the second robot if you can, can you send me instructions on how to make that pls.
And also what is the second robots name called if there is even a name for it to build it.
Generally, VEX forum is a place to spread ideas, not instructions. You should try to build your own robot, or use other robots as inspirations and concepts for your further development. Innovation is about coming up with ways to fix a problem, not copy a previous solution .
