my team wants to use 393 motors internally geared for high speed on our base but we currently only have motors internally geared for high torque at our disposable. Is there any way to use external gearing with the high torque motors to achieve the same gear ratio/rpm as the high speed motors?
We have ordered some refurb kits from vex but they will take some time to get to us and we would like to test our base out while they are shipping
A 60 tooth gear driving a 36 tooth gear or a 30 tooth sprocket chained to a 18 tooth sprocket will both provide a 1:1.667 speed ratio, extremely close to the 393’s speed setting. A 24 tooth sprocket chained to a 15 tooth Tank sprocket would give the exact ratio, but tank sprockets are wider and more annoying to use.
You will have to make some substantial changes to implement this system so it might be better to wait…
