guys honestly, like hook is pretty much the meta, the only team I believe is successful with a hood is 1010G (ten ton) I believe their bot is one of the craziest this season, especially with the flap /w roller intake.
little will on youtube has a hood bot that hes been perfecting over the cource of the season which is pretty good. also just because something is the meta doesnt mean you should use it. lots of times people who expolre outside the meta usually end up creating the next big game strategy/robot build shift.
I personally love seeing the robots with unique scoring methods. 3350C was pretty cool. Overclocked was very nice and I’ve now seen some copies of the bot (sad to not see another funny bot from pyro).
overclocks bot is scary. we are about to compete in NY souths championships against them. the scoring mech Is crazy.
hood pretty much needs flaps at this point to be meta. Both examples above of solid hood bots use them. We also use a hood flap robot but with kind of a twist.
I have never had my 10-inch long hook chain break in comp even though I don’t do anything about it. It is more prone to getting stuck if you are doing 1M intake and the chain may break then (this happened in an elims match to another team we were allianced with; their chain that was attached to the flexwheel area broke, and we lost because we were also going against the best alliance in the Region that went on to win regionals).
