How did Vex Robotics started?

After ten (10) years of Vex Robotics, I’m carious to know what started Vex Robotics. I tried doing research on how it started but I haven’t had any luck with that. If anyone knows what started Vex, please feel free to reply and take your time writing it. History takes some come to talk about.
