We are not affiliated with a school but we want to start designing our robot for next year. Any suggestions for an easy CAD to get with out being with a school?

Robot mesh studio has their own cad program that I don’t know much about. Also, Onshape is a good alternative if you don’t want to download anything and you want to cad online.

@kmmohn’s PDF CAD For VEX Robotics is a good overview of the options available. All the packages mentioned are available free to teams one way or another; not being school-affiliated shouldn’t be a big roadblock either. I like Solidworks the best but that’s more personal preference than anything else.

Our team is not school affiliated, and in fact our SolidWorks sponsorship specifically says it is not for school computers. We have received 60 licenses for SolidWorks for our team every year for the past 5 years or more. Here’s an updated version of the CAD document CAD for VEX Robotics (2).pdf (300.8 KB)
