How do I get my username changed if I can not do it myself... or Message anyone

So I tried to look up how to change my username and it said to message 1 of the admins but for some reason I can not message anyone so does anyone know either why this could be or has there been some security update since these posts came out as I just want to get rid of my last name it seems Vex added for me (thanks Forums)

We have disabled the ability to DM on this site. I’ve updated your username for you. Just your first name was not available, if you want it to be something else other than @LukasU, let me know here and we can update it.

That works also thanks… also may want to update the FAQ to remove the part that mentions how to messags someone if thats the case.

Sorry – this is a bit off-topic, but do you know why DM-ing is disabled? I don’t see how this is negatively affecting the forum.

Things got a bit out of hand a couple of years ago, same reason all posts now need approval.
