im looking into using my school’s laser cutter to get some polycarb hooks made for our intake. i was wondering what software people use to make vectors for them? i tried inkscape but im not liking it much.
I just used onshape, lasercut it (bad idea, makes a lot of nasty smoke, but works) and then bent it with a heat gun…
I don’t have much laser cutting experience but I know you can use cad websites like fusion and on-shape but I don’t know about tinker cad if it doesn’t work I would just use a laser cutting specific website
Just be careful with lasercutting polycarb. It is really not supposed to be lasercut. We did it anyway, but we got a lot of nasty smoke and fumes and the part was discolored and charred.
i agree with this statement and if you are using Delrin put your laser cutter outside or you will die of toxic fumes
I recommend downloading Vectorworks, because it is free if you email them a picture of your student ID. As for vectoring I take out the fill after i design the piece and then I put it in adobe illustrator and make the line thickness 0.001. Then I give the file to my teacher and it cuts. I recommend Vectorworks because it is easy for me, and I use it in the engineering 2D mode.
