How do you code a range finder in vex v5 pro?

Hello, I’m trying to code a couple of range finders for auton to detect a wall and tell if it is the right distance from the wall to drive forward and grab a goal. I am pretty new to using text, and new to using the sensors so I don’t really know where to start and the different codes I can use.
