How Do You Connect Two Standoffs?

A part called a standoff connector exists. However, the standoffs are generally pretty loose and fall apart easily with this. A good way to counteract this is to put a plastic washer in between the two, then use the stand-off connector and tighten the two standoffs with a wrench.

also if you plan to have the standoffs super tight, don’t use the vex wrench or you’ll get a ton of marks all over the standoff and get nowhere. Instead, use your own adjustable wrench.

Can we cut a screw head off???
I think you can, but it is harder to do right. You might risk cutting the thread where it becomes an unusable screw.
We don’t have those connecters…I guess K-Bracing goes down the drain/
Cutting a screw does work, though. Just be careful to not mess up the threading.
if you screw up (pun intended) the threading you could always sand that portion down or just cut it off.

If you cut a screw head off, just file the cut end to a slight taper then thread a nut down it afterwards from the original end then down off the cut end to reform the last threads.

I cut screw heads off all the time for standoff connectors. works almost every time.
we cut the screw heads and you just have to cut precisely.
This is all great, except we can’t cut stuff
well that’s an extreme constraint that will continue to hold you back your entire vex career. I guess just buy standoff connectors then.

well then I guess you’re out of luck. not being able to buy or modify any parts is definitely not a constraint you should have to work around.
