How do you let a pneumatic move freely in vex IQ?

Our team wants to let one pneumatic of a solenoid move freely, but can’t find any way to do that. Is that possible, and if so how?

I believe that the IQ pneumatics work the same way as the V5RC pneumatics, as a boolean, basically meaning that they are set to true, or false and there is no in-between, in which case the only way I can think of would be to have a motor or another piston turning off that solenoid’s access to air. kind of like a suicide bot though, and I wouldn’t do that unless you need to have the solenoid move freely.

Am I understanding this correctly, that another mechanism will move your robot part but you want to use a pneumatic cylinder to restrict the motion but not provide power?

What if you just don’t plumb or wire the cylinder?

Hope you are wrong, that is an expensive use. A slide and a rail/rack is far less of a cost.

We are trying to use the pneumatics to rotate a gear that tensions a rubber band, but we already have used all six motors.
