How do you use the optical sensor and distance sensor?

We bought an optical sensor and a distance sensor with the thought that we could use it on our robot for this year. However, when trying to find the sensor in the insert section (V5 vex code) we did not see anything for the optical sensor. We also googled for a while trying to find any help but did not find any.
