How does the decreased current affect the robot when using more than 8 motors

According to this post the cap per motor is 20A / number_of_motors. At this time it didn’t matter if the motor was in use or not it still took up some current, has this changed?

According to the release notes for VEXos 1.0.8, yes:

• Added dynamic current limiting for VEXU teams when motors total more than 8.

But no word yet (AFAIK) on how current limiting now works for robots with >8 motors.
