How Does Your Team Attach Their Pneumatic Cylinders?

Hello everyone!

I apologize if this has been asked before, but I did not see a ton of answers to this question. How does your team attach their pneumatic cylinders?

I am currently working on a CAD drawing and noticed that the pneumatic cylinder mounts are actually old. So, pretty confusing. I’m struggling to see how you could attach them. Pictures are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

We use Zip Ties for that.

Zip Tie it on both sides and make it go around most of the robot to hold it

definitely zip ties and also you can like laser cut delrin or channel to hold the little nubs on the side. for the newer version of the tank, I don’t think they have the numbs so I would say just zip ties.

We attach our cylinders using the gap that you can slide the screw through and ziptie the other side. Heres a picture:

Definitely with zip-tie. However we usually have a c channel below to support the tank and attach any additional protection.

Thank you!

What pieces do you use to attach the end of the cylinder to a c-channel, angle, etc.? I looked in our kit and don’t see anything that would allow us to do that.

We used the 1x1 aluminum angle pieces. Here is a link to purchase: https://www.vexrobotics.com/aluminum-kits.html

Looks like I misread the question – I thought it was Pneumatic Tank, not Cylinder.

We use a long screw for both pneumatic cylinders on the sides of a c-channel. You can use Nylock nuts with a locking screw, as long as you don’t screw it in too tight.

Last year, we used a shaft, a flat bearing, and 2 colors.

The stroke is 2 inches, which is around 51 mm.
