I don’t have a lot of time before my first competition this year so we wont have a wall stake mech at all on our robot. We decided to make a hood intake because of this and know I am wondering, with 22W of power, how Fast could I realistically make the intake. I am relatively new to VRC but I have experienced senior members in my program and know what I am doing.
For my intake I used a blue cartridge for the intake without gear ratio, which means that it spins at about 600rpm, which is really fast for a hood intake compared to hooks’ average intake speed
Hood intakes can be anywhere from 600 rpm to 1200 rpm or even more. Having 22w to run on an intake a higher speed would still have the same power as a 600 rpm direct drive. The choice is yours just make sure to eliminate as much friction as possible to ensure a reliable and fast intake.
