for a string launcher our team had the idea of have a hook that would be able to be released onto the front of a disk and shot across the field at end game through our flywheel. I would like to hear some opinions on this

100% could work. I would try it out and test it, then notebook the results. My only concern would be possibly damaging game elments.

Please tell me string launchers are a real thing!
Maybe try looking at grappling hook designs?
It’s one example of a “payload launcher with string” that I can think of.

What do harpoon guns and grappling hooks have in common?
I would like to note that since I posted this I have changed my design. Heres the current one:
- Build a box (Doesn’t need all six sides, just enough to support it)
- Build an axel inside the box, with a hole the box small enough to thread a rope thru
- Tie the string onto the axel and put the string thru the hole
- Attach a weight at the end of the string
- Put a motor on the axel
- Profit
Some others on my team have been similar tactics
