How to decrease drivetrain friction drastically

Our robot’s drivetrain has basically no free spin, even when the motors are removed, and I think it’s why the motors overheat so much. I’m aware of screwjointing and we’re planning on doing that on our next rebuild, but are there any other ways we can decrease the friction as much as possible?

Use lubricant, ensure there is no rubbing between wheels, gears, and stationary components, and make sure your spacing isn’t too tight.

Could you please send some pictures of the drivetrain?

This is the only picture I have right now, sorry. I definitely think the spacing is a bit tight.

Screw join5s are a super simple way. Proper squaring and b4acing of the drive as well. And all of these dont require messy lubricant and are much kore efective.

Also all of your spacers on your drive should be able to spin Freely. if they cant it means that you have to many spacers. It is OK and even ideal to have your gears and wheels wiggle left to right 1/16th to 1/8th of an inch

ah. that’s it. yeah, the spacers on our drivetrain do not move at all.

Just need a fingernail thickness of spacing. That’s an easy measurement that everyone has access to.
