How to make a Slip Gear for New Teams

This post is just to help new teams if they want to make a catapult but they don’t know how to. The way I make my slip gears is that I grab a drill as the driver that sands. Grab a sander that you can get in your Home Depot or Lowes for a drill. Some of them are $4.00 each, so not that expensive. I put the sander-drill onto the drill to sand it down and hold the gear against the sander and that’s how you would sand it if you don’t have special drills and stuff for it.

Btw, don’t make it out of low-strength gear; it should be high-strength, and sometimes, if possible double up the gears

Yeah, but that one gear I showed is a custom high-strength with two low-strength gears (36) together.

Ahh old school high strength like we did before there was the ones you could buy. Very nice work.

You know what’s cooler is that we have a custom 12-tooth high strength! We have a lot of custom high-strength even on our drive. It’s cool to make your own before high-strength existed!

You can make an immortal 12 tooth slip gear with the steel gears. Some teams I have talked to have had trouble with regular high strength ones striping out.

I have a few of those metal 12-tooth gears except I don’t have an insert for those gears and I use low-strength shafts as I don’t have a high-strength shafts.
