How to prevent air tanks from releasing right air right after you take the air pump off

how do i get my air tanks to not release air immediately after taking the air pump off the filling spot

I can think of three options:

  1. Practice
  2. Use a different air chuck/pump that disconnects better
  3. Don’t use the Schrader valve on the air tank, but rather add a bit of plumbing which includes a shutoff valve which you can close prior to disconnecting.

A lot of what you are hearing is the air in the hose.

If you have a new setup, with a gauge, pump PAST 100 and then bleed off enough air, via the fill valve, the bring it back down to 100.

But honestly… good technique will solve this problem.

To be honest OP, sounds like a skill issue. But to expound on kmmohn’s post:

(New kit) Screw the scrader valve to the air regulator. Connect that to an on/off finger valve, and that finger valve to the reservoir. When pumping, open the finger valve. When done, turn off the finger valve and detach the pump.

Have this between where your air compressor connects and your reservoir.

Whenever you fill up just open the valve fill up, close the valve and then disconnect. We use this because then we can also just have a push to connect adapter on the end of our air compressor and it’s slightly more convenient than screwing something on each match.
