How to properly empty a pneumatic reservoir

I just got a single acting pneumatic kit and was testing it out when I realized I don’t know how to properly drain it, and I know you shouldn’t keep it pressured, so how do you drain it?

You don’t need to depressurize it, but it doesn’t hurt to and helps to not put extra wear on the fittings. Just unplug an push to connect fitting and it will depressurize.

Like a car or bike tyre, you can just press the pin in the centre of the Schrader valve that you connect the pump to.

If you have a valve in your kit you can add that on. That way you dont have to depressurize the whole system to work on the pneumatics.

I just use one of the on/off switches, connect it using a T fitting to the pneumatic tubing before the solenoids, and when you want to release your air just flip the switch.

The single acting kit doesn’t have the switch :frowning:

(All of you had good solutions, so I want to post this and make it the solution for anyone who has the same question)

Worth noting that you’ll still have about 14.7 psi left in the tank that won’t come out. You’ll need a vacuum chamber or a rocket to finish emptying it.

time to buy a vacuum chamber and rocket just to make sure it is all out.
