How to reply

This might seem obvious and probably will be but I’ve come across many posts to which I cannot reply. These posts have no current replies. I am new to the forum, so I don’t really know what permissions or privileges I need to reply, but how does this system exactly work?

Anything in an “Official” thread are reserved for official answers from people in that department.
So Official Tech support is only answered by VEX staff, ROBOTC Tech support is only answered by robotc officials, and official Q&A is answered by vex officials

I was wondering about this too, so I’m glad I wasn’t the only very, very confused person.

Hi, If your replay for any forum you have to register and login the you can go forum option then you select any question then you can see reply click it the you reply for that question.

I wanted to reply to an admin’s post on one of my conversations, but when I clicked on the reply button, it would only highlight the admin’s post. We should be able to continue the conversation on that thread w/o starting a new conversation just to expand on a previous one. Otherwise the forum would be cluttered with multiple conversations by the same person who started the original conversation, but with only a single response to that question. There should be other ways to respond to that question instead of creating a new thread.

That is not something that is currently possible. Usually it works out because any official response doesn’t require further discussion. If you are attempting to start a discussion I would suggest making unofficial posts prior to ever making an official post.

I can see your point, but what if you needed to further clarify the problem or ask more questions though…

I agree it does not cover every circumstance. It does do alright though. In terms of your specific question I would suggest making an unofficial discussion about

I am not quite sure what you seem to be doing but with a little more clarification you will be able to get a lot more responses on your issue. Also Jpearman from the official ROBOTC forum answers unofficially as well so you don’t lose out on that resource.

Alright. that clears all of my issues up. Thanks!

I’m guessing start the discussion in the unofficial tech support?
