How to shave a gear with the metal thing

Basically im trying to shave the high strength 48 tooth gear to a ls gear. what is the best way I can do this? and also there is like a metal piece inside, so do I have to buy like the v1 48 tooth gears?

Are you talking about the metal adapter in the middle of the wheels? If so, those should be removable.

Are you trying to make it thinner and fit on the 1/4" shaft or do you want a thin gear on a 1/8" shaft?

I think I have some 48 tooth, regular strength 1/8 gears around if that’s what the goal is

no I want a 5 hole wide drive base with a 48:60 gear ratio

Sounds like a belt sander or angle grinder would be handy for that.

Let me try this again. When you get done will the gear be 1/2 as thick as the high strength gear,

Do you want a 1/8" square hole in it or a 1/4" square hole in the center.

I think I have some of the regular strength ones from prior seasons. it’s just a matter of cutting a new hole (or not).

And while I think @Toymangler is quite capable of reducing the gear down, I’m not so sure @TibTy does. So I’m trying to think of the fewest methods that require a grinder.

Perhaps this is an excellent opportunity to make a friend in the shop class.
