How would you get OPR and DPR from RobotEvents API?

If it isn’t possible to get the OPR and DPR from the RobotEvents API, then how would I calculate the OPR and DPR?

there is an app called VRC roboscout that gives you this, as well as a bunch of other helpful information; you can just download it on a phone or other mobile device. just be aware that (at least from what I can tell) OPR and DPR don’t indicate much this year.

(as far as the importance of OPR/DPR) I personally believe that scouting should still be done by hand not using the online data because I find that data doesn’t reflect most teams. Take a look at the bots in a similar rank to you at the least. But I could see how in a larger event that could get to be a bit hard. Maybe once my team hits a few more large events we will run out of time but I personally take the time because I find that manual scouting is a lot better.

I completely agree with you. These stats are very rarely accurate and probably should not be used for scouting. If you want data on teams, you should go to the livestream for the most recent competition and write a short sentence of what their bot does. This is what works best for my team, and it can be super helpful if you are asked to ally by a team that you don’t know.

I personally don’t love live just because its time intensive to go through all the footage before alliance selection and a bot can change a lot between comps. With the new ellipse app and it’s cloud scout I like to just take notes on the teams we played with and against in each match. Just 30 seconds each match and I now have great and fairly accurate results. We also try to have at least one member from our team watch as many matches as they can but at least catch the last few matches of the similarly ranked teams. What ever works for you you should use, although using statistics like OPR or TrueSkill shouldn’t be a replacement for scouting.

I need to be able to calculate it since it isn’t available through an API and I am using it as part of a scouting tool

my first post in this thread explains it. I would still warn against scouting with opr but you are free to do as you wish.
