Humanoid Tournament at World Championships

I’m not sure if we would even be able to do this but within my club a new game of “Assassin” is starting and we got the idea of possibly having a game going during world championships and we were wondering if there would be any interest in doing something like this on a larger scale.

We should all have to make robots to assassinate everyone… or else it would not be in the spirit of VRC

That would be oh-so-fun… You’re making me wish I was doing VEX this year.

I heard there are a few variations at different schools… so are these the methods?

-Back stab: have a spoon labelled “knife” and poke your target in the back
-time bomb: Have a sticky note on you for 10 seconds labelled “bomb”
-Mine: See a sticky note with your name and the words “ka-boom”

Team7706: Haha, that would be awesome. The problem is that not all teams have the resources for such fun.

DracoTheDragon: Well specifically at my school we are having stickers and a few people are pushing for the idea that you can be saved if you find a “surgeon” within a certain amount of time or something. I like the ideas you have put forward however and they seem more effective for larger groups.

I would make a flying robot that just dumps spoons on everyone :stuck_out_tongue:

My team plays a game very similar to this where the way to “kill” the other players is to pretend like you are shooting a blowdart at their neck while making eye contact with them. The only way to protect yourself is to either avoid eye contact or to cover your throat when they try to shoot you. Also, other players can revive you by touching your neck to pull the dart out. It can be quite amusing.

That sounds awesome!

In 7th grade everyone at our school went around with sharpies and swiped each other across the back of the neck to “assassinate” someone.

Awesome  It sounds fun and somewhat challenging.

I think that it might be a bit strange if a random person came up to you at worlds and wrote on you with a sharpie though… Just a thought haha.

Just to clarify a bit: My and EAKC’s club’s tournament involves putting kill stickers on the target and leaving them there for a minute. It’s not a perfect system because if they notice before the minute’s up, they know who their target is and it’s too darn easy to avoid them. I like the sharpie idea a lot, but the eye contact one might not work too well for something like Worlds (too many people walking around?). Also, I’d LOVE to do this at worlds, but we’d need it to be organized by the VEX higher-ups because it would be such a large-scale event requiring moderators/gamemasters. If we can get this to work it’d be really cool!

I have a few issues with our game rules but they can be different and more broad if we were to do this at worlds.

Also, or I could do it  haha. It would be fun to organize. It would require more help though.

I found you guys on VEX Forum!

Assassin’s pretty cool, but it can be kind of stressful playing it at tournaments… I was totally freaking out during our finals matches because I lost my safety sticker :frowning:

Yay!

Well I think if we were to do this at worlds, we would make it so that during finals matches (or matches in general) the driver(s) and coach are safe?

No… They must live in fear as well!

… I get the feeling that we would have some VEX/RECF people who wouldn’t be too happy with us…

Why? So long as it isn’t obtrusive to the proceeding of the events, and it doesn’t annoy nonparticipants, I see no reason they’d disapprove…

(Now, “obtrusive” and “annoy” are kinda wiggle-words, aren’t they… :P)

I was meaning if those driving/coaching during matches were susceptible to “assassination” during a match.

How, exactly, does this game work?

Which version? There is one with sharpies, one with spoons, and another with stickers… probably a lot more as well.
