Can someone please give me some tips on this? We built a 6 bar. We were able to take everything apart except this C channel which has a spacer and a long screw screwed onto it. the screw has a nylock on it. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME TO TO TAKE IT APART
Is the screw stripped?
Are you using a monkey wrench?
The screw isn’t stripped. I know so because I was able to unscrew a little bit today and I am just using 2 wrenches.
Is it a star head screw or a hex screw?
I believe its a star head.
Are you using a star head screwdriver
No we don’t have those,
Well, that’s your issue. If you have a field perimeter the Alan keys for assembling it are star head.
so put the screwdriver/allen wrench into the screw head hole, then put a wrench around the nylock, then unscrew. its pretty straightforward.
and if you still can’t get it off, then you have what my team calls an artifact. an assembly of parts that are physically impossible to separate.
You can cut the long screw with a dremel or other cutting tool if you have one.
What we did with a stripped screw was we cut a line through it, and then unscrewed it with a flat-head screwdriver.
Edit: spelling
we use bolt cutters to cut the nylock in half when the screw gets stripped
when that happens we usually yell swear and hit it with things usually a hammer sometimes other things to and then things arnt beter but their just a diffrent kind of bad
We call them relics.
You can also try cutting a slot in the screw head and taking it out with a flat head screwdriver.
You see, what I do with artifacts is beat em up and then brutally rip them apart. It works, it’s just not pretty.
just get an angle grinder or a hacksaw
if you dont have star headed screwdrivers how did you get it on in the first place?
