Folks - I need a copy of the Hangin’_A-Round rules (and a copy of the animation and the field specs would be nice too) - I thought I had them but so far I have been unable to find them - Does a packrat out there have the files to send me? - Blake
Blake,
I just sent them to you. Let me know if you need anything else.
Got it - Thanks!
googled an animation
never knew vex dated that far back

I really liked Hangin’ Around, but I sure wish I knew then what I know now about building VEX robots, and I really wish we’d had today’s parts list. Back then there were no omni wheels, no rack and pinion gears, and I don’t remember aluminum. Boy, those were the days. Men were men and robots were heavy.
I think we had aluminum back them, because I remember wondering how some of the bots were lifting their brontosaurus-style necks, and coming to the conclusion that they must have used aluminum. However, I wouldn’t bet my paycheck in that recollection.
HAR was the 2nd (or 3rd?) season open to all. Half-Pipe Hustle occurred in 05-06. There may have been another open-to-all season before HPH. I don’t remember.
The open-to-all seasons came after at least one year of experimenting by a small number of teams in the initial program.

I don’t remember aluminum then. We started with HAR. Our name kind of came from all the axles we twisted trying to hang and from lifting 14 softballs at a time.
For those that don’t know, this was all part of FIRST. The FIRST Vex Challenge which became the First Tech Challenge.
