Hey all, for the high stakes game, I was wondering if a grapple made up from the legal size rope, and metal from the vex kit, would be legal to be able to climb the ladder? And I could provide more specifics if needed…
Check the manual for specifics, but if you mean directly launching a hook all the way to the top, then no. There is a vertical expansion limit (kind of, check the manual for more info).
Pretty sure any kind of projectile would be against the vertical size limit rules, since its still connected to your bot
This sort of question is exactly what the game manual is for. If the manual does not prohibit or require something, it is generally allowed.
You would need to look to issues regarding expansion if you are planning on extending any component of your robot vertically or horizontally.
You would also need to look at rules regarding climbing the ladder.

While a grapple could kinda work, you are not allowed to break more than 2 planes of the ladder simultaneously, so some other stuff would need to be done.

As long as you do not violate the vertical expansion limits and the mechanism is safe.

anything is legal as long as it doesn’t break two climb planes i.e if you are on the ground, you cannot stretch up to the second bar, and if you are hanging on the first bar, you cannot reach up to the third level. anything else is fair game.
hint: read the game manual fully, and look closely at the pictures and diagrams given. if you need help, always ask mentors and senior members before asking the forum, they will always respond faster than here.
