(Sorry about the category that I put this in, I was not sure what category this would apply to)
Hello!
I was wondering after watching the HS Closing Ceremonies why there seems to be no information about VEX AIR, which they showed a picture of during a break (The picture is located at 02:18:51 in the broadcast on VEX TV). VEX AIR was not mentioned during MS Closing Ceremonies and I have not seen any other information about it so I thought that maybe everyone on the Forum might have some ideas about it. I was thinking that maybe it will be a game played on the High Stakes field, as the Ladder could be used as a potential obstacle, and that maybe it will be only HS, as it was only shown during HS Closing Ceremonies. Again, I’m just wondering if anybody else has any ideas about it!
Here’s the image that they showed during Closing Ceremonies:
My guess is it’s a new drone for the RECF aerial drone competition, though it could be something else
that’s true, the current drones they use for that competition are from a non recf company, i believe.
but wouldn’t they brand it as aerial drone competition drone instead of VEX?
that’s just what I’m thinking.
Keep in mind that vex does not just make products for competitions, but also educational products and toys. So it is possible that this could be used in the recf competition, but they are (probably) not creating a whole new competition. It’s also likely that this was just created for educational and consumer purposes.
yeah that is also true, I do actually have some vex branded toys. It would be cool though if they made another competition.
I don’t know if this would make a difference, but if you look the drones that they currently use are like many drones with the propellers on top but this new design they showed is a pusher design, with the props on the bottom, like the DJI Avata.
Nothing groundbreaking but AIR - VEX Robotics features the drone and controller seen at the announcement.
interesting
wait it has a camera!!!
the controller has axis labels?
maybe its programmable…
that would be very fun. the controller also has a very large screen and i believe that the drone has a camera so vex fpv
The controller also seems to have color, so it’ll be fun for programmers to program with that i suppose
oh and i just noticed this myself but the website now says check back for more details about VEX AIR! at the bottom of that page on the vex website and the motors look removable
saw that, I guess someone at vex noticed
Vex updated the website with more information on the VEX Air drone and a “competition bundle ” air.vex.com
Further adding on to this…
The only difference seems to be that the competiton bundle includes a team registration.
Curious though… there seems to be no education kits.
See, it is a competition!
I’m interested on how the modules work.
Yeah they have some interesting titles. I just noticed that they come with different batteries and chargers as well as the “Communication Headset” Whatever vex has in mind for VEX Air seems like it’s gonna be cool.
It’s also interesting because the main difference between just the drone and the bundle is that the bundle comes with a VEX AIR Welcome Kit which includes team registration.
