Recently, at our team’s previous tournaments, we have been favorites to win the Excellence Award, however have not gotten it either times. We have a great skills score, winning it every time, and a top 20% code. We have won the teamwork award every time as well. To the best of my knowledge, we have performed well in our interviews. We have a great notebook that is very descriptive, but it does not contain any photos. We are wondering whether or not the photos have any impact on the standings of notebooks, as it does not mention it in the rubric. Any help is appreciated.
Kodak says “A picture is worth a 1000 words.” Bart Simpson says " Pics or it didn’t happen"
In my notebook, we do contain at least one picture for every practice so that the judges can see our progress throughout our build, code, and driving.
While it doesn’t say it in the rubric, it does help the judges see what you went through as a team during your build, code, and driving. It also helps them get a visual assessment of what you did everyday and what challenges you faced as a team along with your ideas that, most likely, changed throughout the build and code.
Use Photos and wright explanations of what your doing will help tremendously.
Don’t know if this will help, but if you win ALWAYS win teamwork then I would not worry about getting the excellence award. At our world qualifying competition, the two award that get you to worlds are the excellence award and teamwork champion. There, if you win teamwork champion, you cannot win the excellence award too.
You are only allowed to win one judged award. You can win tournment champion, excellance and skills champion in one event.
That’s not my experience. One DracoBots team scored four awards in one touniment (exilence, skills, judges and good vibes[yes, this is real]).
Sorry, I misread some information. You CAN win them, but if someone wins multiple world qualifying awards, the skills is the deciding factor.
