Hello, I want to ask about the inspection of the robot during competitions. What are the measurements that are focused on ?
Here is where to find the Robot Inspection Checklist: https://roboticseducation.org/documents/2023/05/robot-inspection-checklist-vrc-over-under.pdf/
Every item on the checklist will be checked…
If you’re focused on “measurements” the inspectors will check that the entire bot fits in the 18x18x18 starting size (including all cables, flaps, rubber bands, etc), and if your robot has expansion capability, the inspector will probably ask you to expand your bot to check it’s expansion size too.
short answer:
but anything that concerns the Robot rules in the Game Manual is subject to inspection.
I really thank you. But just to be sure and certain, I wanted to ask if there are any wide expansion limits, thank u
Horizontal expansion is limited. Once the Match begins, Robots may expand, but no horizontal dimension may exceed 36” (914.4 mm) at any point during the Match.
a. This limit refers to “horizontal” expansion relative to the playing field (i.e., it does not “rotate with the
Robot”). For example, Robots which tip over during a Match or change orientation while Elevating
are still subject to a 36” horizontal limit.
b. There is no height limit on Robot expansion.
Game manual 2.1
I would suggest the VRC Hub app as it has a great list of important rules and a change log for each update. Plus a great search feature.
Hope this helps.
@Yasou45 as he said when expanded it shouldn’t be more than 36in but also remember that it has to be a 90-degree angle. It should not flex outwards while the piston is pushing it, that is why you see some teams using a vertical expansion instead. An example is this robot from pits and parts https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q95a-o5AVBo
(this whole post is about the wings) usually, you wont really run into this problem becasue the weight of the metal will drag it down some (depending on if you are using steel or aluminum) but
Reminder that they will not let you in if you have a robot that violates these rules, we saw teams taking off wings at our first comp becasue of this, particularly the angle
