Intake approach tips

I would like some tips on how and what type of intake I should make so that it can take in tribal, hold it, and also push the tribals in the goal. But the catch is that I can not exceed the height limit of the tribal because we want to make the bot fit under the net.

All suggestions are welcome

8059A and 9364H are two successful flatbots that have functional intakes.

9364H uses pneumatic cylinders. They have a little rod that clamps on the top of the triball. It is not optimal for autonomous and not great at quickly picking triballs up from the field

8059A uses a flex wheel intake like most teams. The only difference is that it lies low until it rolls up on a triball.

Both of these intakes work great. You could also use a side-roller intake like all the early-season robots.

If I had to do an intake, I would do side rollers and have a moveable (up and down) net above it to prevent over-intakes from stealing triballs.

If you have pneumatic you can have pistons hold your intake up so you can easily grab a triball then when you go under the goal you can lower your intake

When my team were building our intake and didn’t have anything for it to stop it from going all the way down and it just sat low, it worked well when it went up on a triball and we could go underneath the bar. Maybe this helps :slightly_smiling_face:
