what do you guys think optimal rpm for intake is? what im trying to run rn is 11w 600 rpm 2 inch flex wheels into a 5.5w 400 rpm 12t hook intake. should i increase the speed on my lower leg or keep it the same?
the 1st stage should typically be around 2x the speed of the drivetrain, we as a team have seen success with 600RPM on 11W to 400RPM hooks, but plan on running 600rpm hooks after winter break
For a really fast intake have your bottom stage with flex wheels at around 600 RPM, your hook stage I would test to see what works best, I wouldn’t go faster than 600 RPM there if that fast even makes sense. But as always test to see what works best for you. Some teams based on their slope of their intake or how much friction they have may need to go faster or slower than others to get an intake they are happy with.
We have ours geared to run the bottom flex wheels at 600 (1:1 ratio to blue motor). Then the actual hook is in 3:5 running at 360 rpm. Although ours is a bit slow because we haven’t added tensioners to avoid the chain flapping yet.
