Intentionally throwing balls out of field?

Are we allowed to throw balls out of the field purposefully? This could be used to develop game strategies related to rapid loading.

No this will not be allowed in matches.

Ethan, first of all you are Canadaian so eat syrup and ask your coach. Second of all, ask the Capped Pins discord server. Third of all, read the Game Manual. Fourth of all, wait till Jpearman probabely answers this.
Hope this helps :innocent:

Welcome to the VexForum Community!

In the Game Manual, there are rules which this would violate.

<SG3> states: "Keep Balls in the field"
This means throwing balls out would be a rule violation, especially when done purposely.

Remember to read the Game Manual before asking on VexForum.

Tip: Use Ctrl+F (Cmd-F in Mac I think?) to search key terms to make the search quicker

So that’s the title of SG3, but nothing in SG3 describes a penalty for balls going out of the field or says anything about an intent to have you not throw them out of play. It’s not the clearest title, but it seems to mean more like “Here’s how to put balls back in play that go out of play.” I certainly think it’s a “you have more goals than passes” strategic option.

This is a question for the Q&A but I will give my 2 cents.

does say Loaders have the option to load Balls directly into the Field., so you don’t have to rapid load balls so you can still get passes. Clause e states that Rapid Load Balls are not eligible to receive credit for Passes, so I don’t think hitting the ball out will change its status. Rule might overrule this though.

I would definantly ask your coach to subimit a Q&A as this strtegy might be usefull.

yea, that’s what i’m thinking. There’s not anything explicitly stating a penalty, so I’m just here to double check.

You’ll want to check out the definition of “Violation” in the game manual.

Even if a rule doesn’t specify specific guidance, breaking a clearly stated rule is a violation, and referees will call them as is appropriate based on the rules. Those that have more specific guidance are there to help referees and teams better understand the intent of a rule and to help eliminate subjectivity as much as possible.
