IQ dead battery - can it be revived?

Our batteries have mostly been sitting in a cupboard for 3-4 months and a few of them are flat. I’ve found one that just will not charge up. It’s a Gen 2 battery, no more than a year old. I’m using a 45 watt USB-C brick. Does anyone know if can be saved? Very disappointing if not.

If battery packs are left across the summer attached to brains, the brain will draw the voltage down below what the charging circuit will use.

For V1 battery packs, attach a motor with a wheel into port 1 of the brain. Put the dead V1 battery in the brain. Spin the wheel quickly, you should see the screen flash white because the motor is acting like a very small generator. Spin the wheel about 30 times and then try the charger again. Sometimes that small amount of charge is enough to fool the charging circuit.

The V2 battery is a completely different setup, and I doubt the above will work. But try it and see what happens, you have nothing to lose. Let us know if it does work.

Your only real choice is to recycle them and buy new ones.

That doesn’t happen with IQ generation 2 batteries, they shutdown after 24-72 hours depending on the battery firmware version. You have to press the button on the battery to wake them up again once they have gone into a “ship” mode.

Good to know that there is a “ship” mode that the will keep them safe. Is there a scenario that would drain them as in the OP’s issue?
