Is it just me or did the game manual ruin everyone’s idea for spin up

Please keep discussion respectful.
I have had my mouse hovering on the close topic button for a minute now.

This was the same thing for Nothing But Net, looking at the game reveal I thought, “Oh, so you can just lift the balls into the net?” But clearly that wasn’t the case. Actually, though, I think shooting would have been more effective anyway.

Yooooo, Clean Sweep gang. That was such a fun game because it was just 2 minutes of frantically tossing stuff back and forth.

Staying on topic though, VEX has been very consistent on what it like to put in the game manual. The T and G sections don’t change much, and in a broad sense, neither do much of the scoring rules (VRC really likes “infinite vertical projection” and “fully supported”). The other thing is that matches with 4 “hoard and dump” bots are incredibly boring to play and watch. This is part of the reason I found Tipping Point kinda boring is that much of it seemed to devolve into hoarding as many mobile goals as you can and sitting on your platform. I’m glad VEX is moving away from a game that requires a lot of “keep away” this year and instead giving teams separate objectives that that force teams to choose between offense and defense strategies.

(laughs in Half-Pipe Hustle)
The game manual was released literally two days after the game animation. Nothing was ruined, calm down.
Personally, I’d much rather watch a game in which objects can be scored from basically anywhere on the field, than another pick-and-place cycle game.
95% of VEX teams probably don’t know Spin Up even exists yet.

Agree that nothing was really ruined. We all saw the animation and knew that we didn’t know the rules. Everyone should have been conscious that we didn’t know what the rules and restrictions going to be for this game, and people should have been thinking about what the rules for the game might have been.

I do confess that some ideas were shut down after the animation, and these ideas were ideas that I would have liked to try. But it didn’t ruin all the ideas.

This can’t be true, can it?

You’d be surprised how many students don’t watch the game reveal the day it comes out.

In SoCal, I can’t imagine many teams not watching the reveal live.

My school had an event but we only got about 40% of people there with a good amount being graduating seniors. I guess it really depends on the size of the program for the percent of participation.

At least half the teams in my org, about 7, probably don’t know about spin up yet

Some bad eye hand coordination there, you might want to have that looked at when you get home. I’d clicked done on this more than thrice.

I feel like people who feel this way are generally new or haven’t really look at previous shooting games farther back then change up. I hope you guys are able to look at previous games released by vex.

Fax. Vex wants the game to be competitive and innovative. They will almost always get rid of the easiest possible solution
