Is it legal to introduce DIY gluing wheels to a robot?

We had trouble with placing a 2’’ encoding wheel into a narrow space in our robot, and now it seems that the only ideal solution is to make a smaller DIY omni-direction wheel to replace it.Can I make wheels with gluing techniques?

No, it is not legal.

Refer to Rule R16, specifically part e:

e. Welding, soldering, brazing, gluing, or attaching parts to each other in any way that is not provided within the VEX platform is not permitted.

The only exception is provided in Rule R8 part d, which allows hot glue when used to secure cable connections.

Can this rule also be applied to robots in VEX U?We’re a VEX U team and we found this among the rule mdifications.

tks but I wonder if this can still be applied to VEX U robots🤔

I’m not on a VEXU team, but according to the rule you quoted (VUR3, highlighting part d):

Fabricated Parts may be made by applying the following manufacturing processes to legal Raw Stock:
d. Attaching materials to one another, such as welding or chemically bonding (e.g., epoxy).

So according to this rule, VEXU teams are allowed to “attach materials to one another” as long as the original materials are Raw Stock.

I would interpret this as allowing glue, but I would suggest reading and analyzing the other VURC Robot rules to be completely sure.
