Is it legal to use metal springs

Hi Guys my name is Alex and I am from the German team Eaglets. I’m struggling building something to pres the ring on the mobile goal. My only idea was a plate with some springs to press the ring down but I’m not sure if metal springs are allowed to use. Can somebody please help me out ?

No, springs are not legal to use, as they are not a allowed non-vex part. An alternative to springs could be rubber bands pulling down opposed to springs pushing.

Welcome to VexForum!

With questions that ask “Is it legal?”, your best resource is the Game Manual. It lists all the legal parts you can use for competition.

As stated by 7862H, springs aren’t legal in VEX competitions.

If you already have a robot that can get the ring, and want to put it on the mobile goal, you can

  • Make the robot move a bit, so it’ll shake on to the stake.
  • Tilt the mobile goal a bit more
  • Use hooks at the end to push it on

This varies greatly by your design, but moving the robot a bit usually helps.

One pice you could use is the spring is in the old claws, if you have them. I don’t think that they sell them anymore but they have rotational springs instead of the new ones that have rubber bands instead. Just make sure your coach is fine with breaking one open.
