In my design, I use exactly 6 cylinders, and to be able to only need to use 2 pneumatics kits, I have used two 50mm stroke cylinders for mechanisms that only need an inch of travel. Would there be a gain in air efficiency by using 25mm stroke pistons instead? And if so, would it be worth the extra $50 for two extra cylinders?
Yes. Because there is less volume inside a 25mm cylinder versus a 50mm cylinder, then less air pressure is lost per actuation (about 50% less excluding tubing and stuff)
Depends. What other parts (or even better how much money) do you think you might need throughout the season? What’s your yearly budget?
