Is my battery dead?

I have a battery that hasn’t been charged in a few months and it is showing the lights that would indicate a dead battery cell, however the light isn’t flashing. I’ve reset the battery a few times and I keep getting the same result.

The green light does not flash or blink. What does this mean? I am also not sure of the battery’s update version.

Do not reset battery randomly - it does not do what you think! Two articles should help you diagnose issues with battery. If new battery, it may be under warrantee, so check with VEX support if defective battery.

wait, we are not supposed to reset them?

at my school we call this a christmas tree, then the person with the “christmas tree” runs around looking for something small (mechanical pencil led, paper clip, etc.) to use to reset the battery.

not really, last resort if nothing else works. Reseting the battery means it loses history about state of charge,

that makes sense. thank you!

Well crap. Any time we get one of these we reset it and then charge it fully and then it starts working again (for a while) however when we reset it but do not charge it just does the christmas lights again. (We also call these Christmas tree batteries at my school) Any clue why it would work after being reset and charged while it won’t when being reset and not charged?

Did you run Battery Medic? It would give more diagnostic information.
