Our chain is grinding and I was wondering if oiling up the gears would be legal because it seems like the only fast solution.
sending a video would help us identify the problem. you should also check the game manual which explicitly outlines which types of lubricants you are allowed to use.
R8b: Any non-aerosol-based grease or lubricating compound, when used in extreme moderation on surfaces and locations that do NOT contact the playing field walls, foam field surface, Scoring Objects, or other Robots. Grease or lubricant applied directly to V5 Smart Motors or Smart Motor cartridges is prohibited.
So… I guess it’s legal, as long as it’s non-aerosol-based and it’s applied correctly.
P.S. Sorry as soon as I see the name of the post I think of Freakybob
You might look at powdered graphite…
Also… you can use pencil lead, holding it up the gears as they pass by.
This has seemed to work well for us in the past, and was easy to clean up
