Here is a video of a 2-stage lift that I have been working on recently, inspired by the 1103 Currahee lift for Round-Up. It uses one continuous loop of chain, rather than a cascade rigging. I only have 2 motors on it right now, but I plan to use 4 in the future. Any thoughts or advice?
Yes. The audio on the my laptop is just strange.
Wow the speed is incredible for a lift like that!
Really nice, we prototyped something similar for sky rise, but when a load was added it would cause friction on the linear slides so the efficiency was poor. Maybe the ITZ loads won’t cause a problem?
build instructions?
What gearing is in the motors?
Thanks. I will probably mount my intake to lift soon. I hope that there is only a small decrease in speed, and I also think the addition of the 2 extra motors will help.
Take a look at these CAD files of the 1103 currahee lift. Mine is fairly similar.
100 rpm 1:1 to a 24 tooth sprocket.
yup… this was the biggest problem we faced for using elevator lift for skyrise - the tilt made alignment for stacking of skyrise very inconsistent (for 5 skyrise sections and above).
But I agree with you - maybe the light weight cone will not cause so bad a tilt.
Slap some more motors on that and change them to HS or Turbo and you’ll be in good shape. Idk why people think linear elevators are slow…
Also don’t use 5 by’s please…
Linear lifts are not inherently slow. Teams just do not gear it up enough or add grease.
This is a great linear lift. I think linear lifts will become dominant if people can figure out how to build them as well as this. Especially because of the new(ish) linear slide system VEX released a few years ago. Since one end is plastic, it might help reduce friction even more.
Actually… having used both the old and new linear slides, we actually prefer the older version. Lesser friction.
Who said you need to use the VEX sliders or Linear Motion kit?
I just added by intake, but not the extra motors. The speed of the speed surprisingly hasn’t decreased much, and there is only a bit extra tilt. I guess that’s a good sign.
My team was planning on doing a two-stage lift much like this one. If you still have it assembled, can you do a speed and height test? That would greatly be appreciated! Thanks
No. There is a reason that very few teams had one in skyrise, and im sure anyone who tried it realized the friction is terrible (so they put lube on) and guess what, its still terrible but now you wasted money on lube.

An elevator lift that worked OK.
All that says is it has to be made with VEX parts.
There are eeeeeaaaasy ways to make an elevator with all VEX parts and without the linear motion or linear slide kits.
Y’all aren’t thinking creatively enough.
