If the sizing tool were to hit a flap on the intakes and move th flap, would it still be in size?
Nope, if it touches, it is outside the size limit

Easiest way to fix this is to move the flaps to make a bald spot, that don’t poke out.

You could also use shorter flaps as there are 3 sizes.

You could also cut one down if you only have the one size. One thing that I have been doing that has saved me many times is act like the size limit is a half inch or a inch smaller. We have found that size gauges are often a little different, so we like that the extra space gives us a good buffer against the error.
