Laptop for CAD

I want to start using CAD for next year’s game, but I don’t own a laptop. Does anybody have recommendations for under $500 that can run Fusion360?

I don’t know about Fusion 360, but I do all my cad through Onshape on a 70 dollar Chromebook. It runs horribly but I usually get some good results after bulling through it.

Here is Autodesk’s recommendations for laptop specs for fusion 360:

I would say that if you don’t need anything that is very resource intensive, you don’t need a good computer, so most computers would probably work for fusion 360.

how do you get all of the files in onshape

Theres a ton of youtube tutorials. Just google something along the lines of “vex onshape tutorial” and most of them will show you how.

There’s a free app for OnShape student accounts (maybe for paid accounts, but I haven’t checked). It’s called “Vex Library.” It has 90% of all components. The one big double-edged sword is that the parts (with some exceptions) are almost 1:1, reducing topology errors, but they are horribly laggy on a full robot without some fancy assembly nesting.

“subscribe” to the app here and it will appear in the sidebar.
