Large Number of Motor Controller 29 Failures

This is our third season as a team and in the last few weeks we have had over a dozen failures of motor controller 29 cables and can’t find a root cause. There have been a couple of failures over the last two years, but noting like we are seeing now. We have four separate Cortex being used and can’t pin the failures to any particular port or Cortex so it appears completely random, but I’m not convinced that is likely. These controllers are two years old and have been through a lot of competitions and practice rounds, but why would they all start failing at once? Has anyone else seen this issue?

Thanks in advance,

The Iron Bots

Team 6380 & 6380Z

Iron Bots,

Thanks for contacting us. We’re sorry to hear you are having issues with the 276-2193 Motor Controller 29. Our engineering team is not currently aware of any problems like the one you describe,
but they’d like to investigate more to ensure a good customer experience for all VEX users. Typical failures are when the Motor Controller 29 wires or Motor wires get crimped by a mechanism and short the wires together. To help up replicate your issue, are the failures on one particular mechanism or drive train? How many motors do you have attached to each Motor Controller 29? Finally, feel free to contact [email protected] for possible warranty support.

Sorry again for any inconvenience!
