Hello guys. So i was looking at buying LED strips. Is it legal if the LED strips are decorational, nonfunctional and POWERED BY EXTERNAL POWER SOURCE? Thanks guys!

they cannot be powered by an external power source
Correct. They have to be powered/wired to the cortex for them to be legal.
This has been debated a lot, it seems like the best option is to y cable off a power expander port to get the unregulated 7.2V and then regulate it yourself, sensor ports on the cortex are all connected to a single 5 watt regulator which is probably not enough for multiple LED strips.
I honestly don’t understand why we cant have non functional batteries, perhaps its to make inspecting easier, they don’t have to check to make sure the battery isn’t adding extra power to your motors
I completely just don’t understand why we can’t have non-functional batteries and separate battery power for LED strips, THEY LOOK COOL1
Ikr Maybe we can have a Christmas miracle…bot
