Yes it is legal though may cause slight confusion when teams are looking at your plate for a second.
Does it show enough of the plate for it not to be a problem even if its red and blue?
They would be legal so long as you only played as blue alliance. Read R10 and the red box at the end. You cannot create confusion as to what alliance you are on. Print it any color but blue or red.
