Legality of polycarbonate license plates?

Now that license plates can only be made with vex parts, that outlaws 3d printed license plates, but it is still legal to use other vex parts for license plates (ex below)

technically, that means that it is legal to use poly license plates, since polycarb is a vex part. It is technically pointless because that would just waste 2 pieces of poly and poly is very valuable since there are only 12 pieces max. I know this idea is really stupid, but I am just curious about the legality of this.

I mean By technicallity I belive this would be classed as painting a part which to my knowledge is legal.
howerver I dont think it would not be classed as a license plate as liscense plate rules now are very specific about the functional part the offical plate.

You could try searching the game manual for any rules preventing the use of polycarbonate for license plates, specifically rule R6.

It’s probably legal. The reason why 3d printed plates are no longer allowed is because it was too hard to determine if a 3d printed part was functional, and plates are now a functional part anyway. However, polycarbonate is allowed to be functional, so I don’t see why it wouldn’t be legal.
There is, however, a most certainly legal way of still using a printed part to customize a license plate while using a vex plate.

Custom License Plates For Push Back

There are no stupid questions, there’s nothing wrong with wondering what’s allowed in the game manual. I myself have questions about the battery that aren’t really practical.
