I would like to clear this with Vex to make sure it is acceptable. These patches will only be for our school and are being given not sold to students for profit.

The VEX Digital Resources page lists the following guidelines regarding logo usage:
Since this is a non-commercial application promoting / celebrating your achievements in robotics, these patches do fall under acceptable use.
